Having sensitive teeth can be frustrating. Every time that you bite into a food that is not at room (or mouth) temperature, you could be experiencing pain. Hard foods and even tough foods, like meat, can become a chore to chew.
Switch toothpastes
If you are experiencing sensitive tooth issues, try using a toothpaste that is specifically designed for sensitive teeth. There is no guarantee that you will experience an improvement in the sensitivity, because the issue could be something more than on the surface, but many people find that these toothpastes do help to alleviate some forms of pain and sensitivity.
Avoid certain foods and drinks
When you have sensitive teeth, you likely already know how some foods and drinks can affect them. Foods that are high in acids are ones to avoid until you have your dentist check out your teeth and determine the root of the problem.
Some of the foods that you should avoid are oranges and pickles, among others. Also avoid drinking wine, fruit juices, and soda.
Make an appointment with your dentist
When you have sensitive teeth, it’s usually a sign that something is not quite right with them. Don’t ignore the problem. Pain is your body’s way to telling you that something is wrong. Pay attention to those warning signs.
If you have a history of sensitive teeth and have been back and forth to your dentist and nothing gets resolved, it may be time for a new dentist. If this tooth sensitivity is something new, even if you just visited with your dentist a few months ago, you should make a new appointment as soon as possible.
Don’t ignore the problem as it will likely only get worse over time.
