Did you know that storing your toothbrush out in the open in your bathroom could be exposing you to various health risks? Most people wouldn’t even consider this a problem. That’s because most people likely grew up with their toothbrush in a toothbrush holder left out on the sink or on a shelf near the mirror.
However, if this is the case with your toothbrush, every time a person goes to the bathroom or flushes the toilet (especially without the lid closed), microscopic droplets of moisture are getting tossed up into the air, including the waste that was eliminated or evacuated into the toilet in the first place.
Just imagine a thin mist of spray getting thrown up into the air and allowed to move wherever the wind blew. The moment a person flushes the toilet, turns around to wash their hands, and then walks out the door, they are stirring up the air. They are also stirring up all of those moisture molecules which can include bacteria and germs. Eventually, those bacteria and germs will collect on various surfaces, including a toothbrush.
If the toothbrush is still damp the next time you go to use it, you could be exposed to those germs and bacteria and that can have a negative impact on your health. If that sounds disgusting, understand the point is to encourage people to store their toothbrushes in a different place. It may be best to store the toothbrush in a sealed medicine cabinet or in another location. Using a case may be effective, as long as the toothbrush bristles can get exposed to air so they dry properly.
By protecting the toothbrush and keeping it from common bacteria and germ harbingers, it can also protect the individual from exposure to these harmful bacteria and germs.
